My Story
I am a published writer and experienced editor of a variety of works, from academic articles to bestselling children’s trade publications. I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida with a B.A. in English and minors in French and Francophone Studies and Mass Communications Studies. As an English major, I concentrated on ninteenth-century Victorian literature, focusing on topics such as feminism, genre, and gender in my studies. Besides academic works like my honors thesis and published article in the UF Journal of Undergraduate Research, I pursued many other kinds of writing, including creative and journalistic pieces as a staff member for PRISM: UF Honors Magazine.
While part of PRISM, my writing and editing skills evolved, first serving as Creative Editor and then co-Editor-in-Chief for two years. As co-EIC I managed a staff of over fifty students to produce two magazines a year—two of which were fully produced and published remotely due to the pandemic. Working in PRISM, I grew comfortable collaborating with others as part of a large team. I also have skills in communication and research, having presented at two national academic conferences and multiple university conferences over the course of my undergraduate career.

My scholarship has even taken me beyond the United States to the United Kingdom. In the summer of 2019, I pursued an independent research project at the University of Cambridge as part of a UF study abroad program. I later participated in an exchange program with the University of Glasgow, spending the Fall 2020 semester as a student in Scotland. My academic work during my undergraduate career led to my selection for several awards and honors, including being named a 2021 Outstanding Scholar of my University of Florida graduating class.
My publishing journey began when my interests in writing and the industry led me to serve as an intern in the Acquisitions department at the University Press of Florida for several months. In that position, I learned about the publishing process, as well as aided in tasks such as drafting contracts and budgets, corresponding with authors, and overseeing the submissions inbox. Then, in Fall 2022, I had the pleasure of interning for Penguin Random House. As a managing editorial intern for Vintage Books and Anchor Books, I copyedited and proofread mechs, newsletters, and other materials for the imprint; managed metadata in SAP; and personally updated over thirty John Grisham novels to prepare them for reprinting. I was then asked to temp in the department in January 2023, and accepted a full-time position in February 2023. As managing editorial assistant for Vintage Books, I processed over 1,000 backlist text and cover changes/corrections; collaborated with my team and other departments to add new introductions and other material to backlist titles; created bound galley materials for both physical books and eGalleys; and maintained our foreign file sales inbox, negotiating with publishers from across the world. Before transitioning to my current role at Random House Children’s Books in April 2025, one of my personal favorite projects was aiding in the addition of new introductions to the Vintage Classics editions of Jane Austen’s works, specifically Persuasion, Mansfield Park, and Sense and Sensibility, in honor of the 250th anniversary of Austen’s birth. I’ve now worked for Penguin Random House for over three years, and have been a freelance editor for Scholastic and Random House Children’s Books for three years as well.
As demonstrated by my resume, I try to push myself out of my comfort zone, and I am always searching for opportunities to expand my knowledge and experiences, whether at home or abroad. As I move forward in my career, I hope to further develop my abilities in publishing, editing, and other types of communications.
